Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in 1971.Today, MSF provides independent, impartial assistance in more than 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters. MSF Switzerland in Nigeria currently has 3 projects mainly on primary and secondary health care, vaccination, nutrition programs and water and sanitation activities in Gambaru/Ngala, Rann and Banki.Job Description Main purpose of the position: Support the WatSan Manager in the implementation, monitoring and maintaining of Water, Hygiene and Sanitation activities and infrastructure. Main Duties and Responsibilities Main objectives of the position: Construction, maintenance and repairs of structures concerning water supply, waste management and excreta disposal, hygiene and infection control; Carry out routine water and sanitation assessments ensuring proper collection, compilation and reporting of data; Support the design of water and sanitation structures including development of drawings and technical specifications for e.g. boreholes, water distribution points, latrines and waste management structures; Evaluation of B&Q and tender documents; Identify and supervise daily laborers and contractors; Responsibility for equipment, tools and consumables, verifying that they are safely used and maintained; Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications Education Technical certification or proven background, desirable specialization in water and sanitation Experience : Previous experience in technical works, water engineering Experience as supervisor is an asset Experience in borehole drilling is an asset Languages Fluent in English (oral and written), fluent in Igbo (oral and written) Knowledge Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc.) Competencies: Analytical and report writing skills Results and Quality Orientation Team work, Cooperation, Flexibility Commitment to MSF Principles Other Flexibility to work after working hours when required
